The NSWC website is split up into multiple categories:

Weather Information

Alerts

Weather alerts are issued by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) to warn and/or advise the public of incoming adverse weather conditions that have the possibility to or are expected to impact any given area under their jurisdiction. The NSWC does not issue alerts, but complies those issued by the government in an easy to understand graphic. Curious about the criteria for each alert? View them here.

Weather Bulletins

Weather bulletins are issued by the Nova Scotia Weather Centre when hazardous weather conditions are expected to or have the potential to occur. These bulletins are typically issued alongside alerts to give a more detailed idea as to what kind of conditions can be expected however they may also be issued if hazardous weather has the potential to occur down the line when there are no active alerts.

Thunderstorm Outlooks

Thunderstorm outlook graphics are issued by the Nova Scotia Weather Centre every day during the thunderstorm season between June 1st through August 31st. Outside of this season thunderstorm graphics are not routinely issued, however special graphics may be issued if conditions warrant the potential for thunderstorm development.

Tropical Cyclones

Tropical Cyclones that have the potential to threaten Nova Scotia or anywhere else in Atlantic Canada are reported on every twelve hours while the threat is active. If the potential is upgraded into an expected tropical cyclone impact the Nova Scotia Weather Centre will issue advisories every six hours rather than twelve.
